Meet the 19 Black Women Running for Judge in Harris County, Texas #MelaninMagic

“I’m no longer accepting the things I cannot change…I’m changing the things I cannot accept.” – Angela Davis

Today’s edition of #MelaninMagic features nineteen beautiful black women in the Democratic party that are running for judge in Harris County, Texas. In March of 2018, this elite group of ladies won their judicial primary races, and now they are less than two months away from making history. Although Harris County is the largest county in Texas, with 15 cities including Houston, this is the highest number of black women that have ever been on the election ballot in this county. One of the women, LaShawn Williams said “I’m humbled. Never did I imagine that the day I decided to run to be judge, I’d become a part of a club of phenomenal Black women, sisters-in-law, gifted, brilliant, strong – everything I hope to be! It is with great pride and excitement that I share this “Black Girl Magic” with you!”

As if the upcoming midterm elections weren’t already important enough, this is just one more reason. Check out the list of women and the positions they are running for below!
